São Sebastião Site
Specialty coffee producer and rural tourism.
Located in the south of Minas, in the city of Cachoeira de Minas, with an altitude between 865 and 1050 meters, Sítio São Sebastião has been explored as a coffee crop since 1975 by producers Paulo Pereira da Silva and Mara Serafim Gomes Pereira da Silva .
Focusing on the production of specialty coffees through its own brand “Café Pé-da-Serra”, the Sítio achieved a 100% certification score by Certifica Minas Café in 2017 and has maintained this ever since. At the same time, Dona Mara was awarded the distinction of Rural Producer by the Government of Minas Gerais for her brilliant performance in the agribusiness sector.
Today, in addition to coffee, the Sítio works with rural tourism where tourists have the opportunity to learn about the processes and technologies involved, from planting, harvesting and choosing the special beans that end up on the consumer's table. About Us
Sitio São Sebastião is located in the south of Minas, in the city of Cachoeira de
Minas, geodetic coordinates of Latitude: 22°23’20.29” S and Longitude:
45°44’35.98” W, at an altitude between 865.0 - 1050.0 m. Started working with
coffee in 1974, with Mr. Paulo Pereira da Silva, who received these lands as
inheritance from his parents, Benedito Pereira da Silva and Maria Rosa da Silveira.
Paulo married Mara Serafim Gomes in 1975, and from then on the two
gradually began to implement coffee farming and in 2000 they reached
totaling 25.0 ha of crops.
In 2003, with the new trends in coffee growing and the devaluation of
traditional coffee farming, the migration to corporate coffee farming began, to
production of special mountain coffees with cultivars from Mundo Novo, Catuaí
yellow, Rubi, Topázio, Catucaí Yellow (2SL and 20/15) and since 2016 a plot of Bourbon
yellow. Since then there has been an improvement in equipment and the implementation of
new machinery for processing peeled cherry coffee.
From 2009 onwards, the site was certified by Certifica Minas Café, where all
production follows strict quality and traceability standards, respecting the
rural worker and the environment.
Since the Mantiqueira de Minas Coffee seal was created, Sitio São Sebastião
has sent coffee samples to the competition where he achieved 6th place in 2016
(wet way), in the 3rd Mantiqueira de Minas Coffee Quality Competition.
In 2017, Sítio reached its long-awaited peak, with a 100% score in the
Certifies Minas and UTZ, won 1st place (wet route) in the 1st Coffee Competition
Rares and Surprisings from Cooperrita and Mara received from the Government of Minas Gerais
the Outstanding Rural Producer certificate for its brilliant performance in the
agribusiness. In the last 2 years we have received several views from buyers
international specialty coffees (Chinese, Korean, French, North-
Americans, Norwegians and Germans) associating the production and commercialization of
coffee with rural tourism.
In 2018, producer Mara was invited to join the group of women Coffee Entrepreneurs that culminated in 2019 in the 1st Meeting of Women Coffee Entrepreneurs - Santa Rita do Sapucaí, Mantiqueira de Minas.
From the 19/20 harvest, a batch of special coffee was sold to the company 3Corações, through the 2nd
Concurso Florada Premiada, which unifies coffee producers, valuing the female universe of coffee growing.
